Meet Ryan: Always Looking Ahead

Some people see obstacles.

Ryan sees possibilities.

Whether he's troubleshooting a computer, organizing his calendar, helping around the house, or preparing for college, Ryan is always looking for the next opportunity to learn and grow.

Ryan has been part of the CLA family for several years and currently works at ARC, where he's built an impressive work history spanning more than a decade. He enjoys working, takes pride in doing a job well, and is always looking for ways to grow professionally.

Now, he's preparing for his biggest adventure yet.

Ryan hopes to attend college to study cybersecurity and drone technology—a field that's opening new doors in public safety, infrastructure, and technology. From inspecting buildings to supporting emergency response efforts, drones are becoming an important tool in many industries, and Ryan is excited to be part of that future.
Technology has always come naturally to him.

When a computer isn't working, a Zoom meeting won't connect, or an electronic device needs troubleshooting, Ryan is often the first person others turn to for help.

"He's my go-to guy," his provider shared with a smile. "If something isn't working, Ryan usually figures it out."
His curiosity, patience, and knack for problem-solving make cybersecurity a natural fit.

Ryan's goals extend beyond earning a certificate. He's excited about the opportunity to build a career that offers greater independence and allows him to put his talents to work. The program also includes internship opportunities, giving students valuable real-world experience while they learn.

Outside of work and school, Ryan enjoys staying active in his community. He attends CLA events throughout the year, keeps a busy calendar, and enjoys exploring new places using Access-a-Ride. He also loves finding unique treasures while shopping and has developed quite an eye for discovering items he can resell online.
Friends describe Ryan as dependable, thoughtful, and incredibly organized.

He keeps track of appointments, manages important paperwork, helps with household responsibilities, and is always willing to lend a hand. Whether assisting with technology, picking up prescriptions, or reminding everyone about upcoming events, Ryan enjoys being someone others can count on.
Ryan is also an advocate.

As an ARC ambassador, he has spoken about the importance of self-advocacy and encouraging others to use their voices. His willingness to share his experiences has inspired others to believe in themselves and pursue their own goals.

When asked what comes next, Ryan doesn't hesitate.

College.

A career.

More independence.

Those who know Ryan aren't surprised.

He's already shown that with determination, curiosity, and the right support, there's no limit to what he can accomplish.

Looking Ahead
Ryan's story reminds us that person-centered support is about helping people pursue their own goals—whether that's employment, higher education, increased independence, or discovering new opportunities.

At CLA, we're proud to support people as they continue learning, growing, and building the future they envision for themselves.
