Meet Joannie: Finding Joy in Every Moment

Joannie has been part of CLASS since 2015, and over the years, she has become known for her caring nature, creativity, and willingness to help others.

A Place to Grow

Ask Joannie about her favorite place at CLASS, and she’ll tell you: the garden.
She enjoys caring for the plants and watching things grow, especially during spring, her favorite season. For Joannie, the garden is a place where she can contribute, spend time outdoors, and take pride in what she helps create.

Her creativity extends well beyond the garden. Joannie is a talented artist who has created many pieces at CLASS, including some she has proudly taken home. She also enjoys yoga and meditation and is interested in spending more time on the computer learning about animals.

Friends, Music & Fun

Joannie attends CLASS three days a week and enjoys being part of the community she has known for more than a decade. Friends describe her as caring, friendly, helpful, and creative, and helping others is one of the things that brings her joy.

She also loves music and karaoke. Her taste covers a little bit of everything, with favorites ranging from Boston to Phil Collins.
And then there are the friendships. Joannie has formed meaningful connections at CLASS, including a special friendship with Eddie.
“He’s kind,” she says simply.

Meet Liberty

At home, one of the most important parts of Joannie’s life is her calico cat, Liberty. Joannie adopted Liberty from a shelter when she was two years old, and the two have been companions ever since.

She enjoys quiet weekends at home caring for Liberty, watching TV, and taking care of everyday responsibilities like doing her laundry and washing dishes.

She also enjoys spending time with family and celebrating special occasions—especially Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and birthdays.
For Joannie, happiness can be found in simple things: helping a friend, singing a favorite song, creating something beautiful, watching a garden grow, and spending time with Liberty.

After more than a decade at CLASS, Joannie continues to help make it a warmer, more welcoming place—one friendship, one piece of art, and one growing plant at a time.
